The motion of Redline

Redline is a hand drawn animation and is one of my favorite hand drawn movies of all time. The reason that its one of my favorites is because its motion for being hand drawn is great. Each frame is hand drawn and it runs really smoothly.
It flows so well for being hand drawn and the key framing is on point. It also is really good hand drawings that make it flow so well. Overall this animation in this movie is top quality and it has very good production quality.

WH40K Sword

For my first animation of the year I decided to my a sword in maya. I have been working on it for a few weeks now. This sword is still a work in progress but I decide to show a few things off right now.
This is a screen shot from the actual 3d model in maya instead of the full rendered out version.
the hardest part of modeling this sword is blade and its angles for pulling it out of a rectangular polygon. Then you have to basically sharpen its angles and make it look like a real blade.

Next came the handle which wasn't that hard but that is currently the part that i am on right now. its grip is just sort of a place holder. As of right now its it has come out pretty good.

This image was father along in my sword. My favorite part of the sword right now are the wings that combine into one wing at the back.
I will soon be adding a stand for the sword and I will also be adding multiple cameras that will rotate around and give 360 views. i have had a few set backs with maya but i will have them in the near future.

Final Blog

E-comm Reflection

This year in animation I learned a lot. Last year I wasn’t to big on Maya Lighting but this year a learned how to do a lot of that stuff thanks to my peers. Also this year I learned a lot about pixel art and how to add depth to the pixel art. Lastly this year I learned how to manage time better.

The way I learned all of that stuff is because all of my peers are all very helpful. They all have helped me and I have helped them in return. I also have learned by trying again and again until I have figured it out. I also have made mistakes that I have been able to make something cooler out of.

I think that it is important to learn from your peers because they are the ones that are closes to you in your workspace. If something is out of place and they don’t like then your employer like it most likely wont. Another reason that the learning is important is because its how you make things better because if you know that there is something that will make your project but you don’t how to do it you need to learn it. That’s why learning is important.

My strengths at animation are pixel animation and story development. Anything I do in animation I always try to have a story in it. Even in the little animation I tried to add a story. The reason I am so good at pixel art is because I have always liked it and when I learned to do it I got really good at it. My weakness at animation is pretty much anything that has to do with Maya like lighting and shadows. I just have not been able to do them good. I did improve them by learning more about them from my peers and also worked with them on it.

I hope to have a job that has something to do with what I have learned. I also plan to work on new animation and my portfolio during the summer. I hope that I also might get feed back from my peers every once in a while. Lastly I hope to be able to go somewhere to look at professional animations to learn from.

If I could change thing I would have done better time management last year because I wasn’t as productive I was this year. I would also change the different type of animation because I only did pixel art and 3D. I would really have liked to do more 2D animations. Lastly I would have like to have done more group projects like E-comm Brawl.

Overall in Ecomm I have learned a lot this year due to my peers. I also like the way that my animations turned out this year. Also I plan to do animations and work on my portfolio. Lastly I had a ton of fun in Ecomm this year and this was by far my favorite.

Time animation

This is my time animation that I decided to make a tank. In this animation I decided to make a LAV. That stands for lightly armored vehicle which was made to transport troops across the battlefield. I chose to use this one because they are a whole lot faster than normal tanks therefore showing how much time it actually took.

In this animation the LAV is going across the battlefield and its as you can tell in takes along time.
the reason that that it takes so long to get from one side to the other is because there LAV is going up and down hills.

Overall this was a great learning experience for because I got to work in Maya which I hardly ever do. I also got to work with shadows in Maya which I had only done once a long time ago.

W40K 2D Side Scroller Prototype

For this project my partner and I have been working on it for a long time now. Its a 2d side scroller prototype game about the Warhammer 40k universe. The reason we chose to make a game from this universe is because there is so much lore and things that add to the story of the Warhammer universe. You can make anything from the Warhammer 40k universe because theres so much to draw from.

For thus game my partner and I have made it in unreal engine 4 which is a great engine but it does tend to crash a lot. This year I have learned a lot about unreal engine. I am definitely going to be coming back to the engine because its pretty simple to use once you get the hang of it.

For this project I was in charge of back ground and items however some of the items have not made it into the game. For the background I used photoshop so we could make the game in pixels. we chose to make the game in pixel art because we are big fans of it.

My partners role was to make the sprites of the space marine. He did a great job of making the sprites because he got all of the detail that a normal space marine has.

This is the finished prototype its not the game its because we could not pull it into blogger but in the game you can run and jump and we are currently making the enimies and making the space marine shoot.

Overall this was a very fun project and it was very challenging to bring everything in to unreal. we are going to keep on adding to it after the holidays so expect more to this, a lot  more.

Personal Blog

I'm choosing to continue to work in animation because I want to persue a career in video game design. For the software I have chosen unreal engine 4.9 because this is the engine that epic games used to make gears of war. By the end of this year I hope to have made some pretty big things upon using unreal engine 4.

I plan to make a collaborative piece with my friend. We plan to make a 1920's mafia RPG or role playing game set in New York city. We plan to make it a top down where you interact with things in this screen and when you interact you will battle view on a 2D plane with 3d models. We plan to have this done by the end of the year.

Green Screen Animation
This is my final animation this year. I worked with 4 other people on this animation. We did a mixture of 3D animation, Green screen animation and special effects.

This is my green screen shot with out any special effects.
This is my final green screen with the special effects and a background.
This is the final product and overall  I think blew this animation out of the water. There are a few little corrections like putting the characters faces on their health bar. What inspired us to do this animation was the old classic arcade fighting games. This was animation is easily my favorite animation of the year.
